1920s Art Deco Dress
Extraordinary Vintage 1920s dress with Egyptian revival Art Deco print on the silk bodice. Delicate silk voile skirt hangs in exquisite ruffles. Long sheer voile sleeves with print cuffs. Attached narrow long voile scarf. Keyhole neckline. In 1922 Howard Carter found the tomb of King Tutankhamun, The world was immediately in a fever for all things Egyptian. Egyptomania influenced fashion, architecture, housewares like ceramics and furniture, Art and Film. This gorgeous tunic dress is in fair condition. The printed fabric in back is fragile and will need support. Backing with a light voile or lightweight tricot fusible should do the trick. The voile skirt and sleeves are in excellent shape. Size is medium and should fit very loosely. Bust 34-36"
