Couture Chanelesque 1950s Suit

Product Details

Gorgeous 50s fitted suit with a strong Chanel look. This suit came out of a collection owned by an amazing woman who led a fascinating life. Born at the turn of the century, she lived in Paris and became a ballerina. Of blue blood ancestry her grandfather's name is on the arch de triumph. She was acquainted with Coco Chanel, Schiaperelli and many other figures of this period. She spent her summers on the French Riviera in an amazing cliff side villa. When war broke out she and her husband-a Duke, moved into the Claridge where she would surreptitiously work as a nurse in a nearby hospital. We believe this is possibly a Chanel. It's lining matches the lining in a 50s Chanel we acquired from the same estate, the novelty knit wool and trim also are classic Chanel traits. There is no label and the previous owner altered the waistband in the skirt.
Navy blue oversize houndstooth on white and off white with black trim. Excellent condition. Bust 34" Waist 26"
