Gilbert Adrian late 40s rayon crepe cocktail dress. Adrian, among the greatest Hollywood costume designers worked at MGM during the golden age of film. Designing the costumes of films like The Wizard of Oz, The Philadelphia Story, The Women (Check out the color mini fashion show within the film of some crazy outfits he designed), Woman of the Year and many others. Jean Harlow in Dinner at Eight- Amazing! Interestingly Adrian who got his start in silent films was given his first job by Rudolph Valentino’s wife Natacha Rambova in the now lost film A Sainted Devil. This dress has a lovely deco inspired design with crossed panels at the waist. No one flattered the female form quite as well as Adrian. Long sleeve. Fitted wrists with snaps. Pleated bust and waist. Zipper back. Padded shoulders. G Adrian Originals tag. Very good condition. Some discoloration under the arms and a spot on the back waistband, otherwise excellent. Bust 34” Waist 24” hips 35”
